I
love Cooperstown, New York so much that I wish we could be there every
day. One look at Lakefront Park at Otsego Lake in the Village of
Cooperstown on a clear, bright August day validates that warm thought
all the time. The sky is big and blue, the air refreshing, the water
scenic and clean, the rolling hills so beautiful and the grass greener
than the best turf commercials on television. Add a bench or two to sit
on and marvel at the scenery is like heaven on earth. The American flag
reminds us of where we are and why the country is the land of the
beautiful. The August days rarely get too hot and the nights have that
cool, mountain air feel although, technically, Cooperstown is not
located in the mountains. The hills are just fine, though.
Lakefront Park is the first place we go to when in the heart of the
village. We usually grab a cup of coffee, chai or tea at
Stagecoach Coffee a few blocks up on Lower Pioneer Street, walk down to
the lake, and enjoy the beauty of August in one of the most beautiful
places you'll ever see.
